THE POWER OF Ag OXYSALTS™ TECHNOLOGY

Silver is only effective at killing bacteria when it is missing electrons and in an ionic state. The more electrons that are missing, the more positively charged the silver becomes. This leads to a greater ability of silver to disrupt the normal function of the bacteria4. ExsaltTM PT7 dressings with Ag OxysaltsTM technology is designed with 3 missing electrons (Ag3+) to make it more effective at killing bacteria. Other silver dressings are only missing one electron (Ag1+), making their silver less effective4.

in vitro studies show Ag OxysaltsTM technology disrupts and kills P. aeruginosa biofilm.


Molar concentrations of Ag OxysaltsTM technology were used to measure kill rates and to determine efficacy vs. biofilms after 24 hour exposure using the Calgary biofilm device evaluating MBEC and following the device manufacturer’s protocol;
biofilms were grown for 24 hours, then confirmed and visualized using microscopy and staining;
efficacy was demonstrated vs. P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, and E. coli biofilms.

In a in vitro assay, ExsaltTM PT7 dressings were shown to maintain its antimicrobial activity against a broad spectrum of bacteria for up to 7 days. This reduces the need for frequent dressing changes and unnecessary disturbance to the wound.

ExsaltTM PT7 dressings demonstrated only a nominal shift in pH,
at markedly lower silver concentration compared to most competitors. This means that patients experience minimal pain, so that comfort can be increased without compromising on biocidal effectiveness.

COST EFFECTIVE

As Ag OxysaltsTM technology is highly effcacious, less silver is required in the dressing. This means the silver coatings can be deposited more effciently on the dressing. This significantly lowers production costs and results in a more cost-effcient solution. In fact, ExsaltTM PT7 dressings offer significant cost savings in comparison to Acticoat®7 dressings, over seven-day use.
